Well as I was in Melbourne I had to do the official Neighbours tour….who wouldn’t? There was quite a few on the morning tour. Most were English except a few Australians??? Apparently it’s not very popular in Oz (like the beer Fosters) – they much prefer Home and Away??? The outside scenes are filmed on location in the Suburbs. It took about 45 minutes for us to get there. We first stopped off at Erinsborough High school. It is actually called the Blackburn English School. It teaches the children of Immigrants to Melbourne who can’t speak English, English. Our guide quickly whipped out a sign and attached it to the fence. We then took it in turns to pose. We then jumped back in the van to meet a star from the show. I was hoping for someone that I recognised, even though I haven’t watched it in ages. When they turned up I had no clue as to who they were?? I think his characters name is Ned? I didn’t have the foggiest and I think the others were the same as no one was really star struck, or looked bothered for that matter. You could tell though he loved the limelight. Apparently all the neighbors cast want to do the meet and greets, but not everyone is allowed. He posed for pics and then we moved onto the main even.

After a short drive we found Pin Oak Crescent, otherwise known as Ramsay street!!! There was a plain clothed guard parked outside one of the houses not looking very inconspicuous. He was frantically noting down details about the van. He tries and keeps the fans at bay??? Apparently lots of stuff goes missing from the street. Our guide gave us a bit of a walk around the famous few houses that are used for the on location shots. It was a bit weird being there in person as the houses actually look quite run down. Feel sorry for the residents as they have to put up with tourists and the demands of the film crew. Apparently they can’t even sell their houses as no one wants to live there and put up with the hassle!!!! After our guide pulled out the sign we all posed again and made our way back.
